Feeding a baby at 6 months, implementing a solid diet

Feeding a baby in its first 6 months of life is breast milk, after this period can begin implementing a diet with solid foods.

6 month The feeding in the first 6 months of life consists mainly of food with milk, either human or formula; however after 6 months baby requirements begin to exceed what can be used with the milk, then it must introduce increasingly complex food. It is usually recommended to start with very simple foods like fruits or vegetables and then gradually introduce increasingly complex food to try to reach a very similar to what is in power house.

Foods to avoid

For children who suffer from food allergies should avoid foods to which you are allergic or more allergens that are known, however, a child who does not have allergies, avoid.

During the introduction of solid foods into the diet of infants previously recommended to avoid a number of foods that apparently today we have no justification obviously children who have allergic history or high risk should avoid at least the most allergenic foods we know are important however in each population in a healthy child in a baby who has no problems should avoid foods with excess sugar. Today the introduction of juices to the diet of very young infants is not recommended.

International standards state that you can enter virtually any food and is ideal to do it in a short time, from 6 to 8 months.

Integrating solid foods to your baby's diet

To find out if a baby is ready to integrate solid foods to your diet should assess the child's age; also depends psychomotor development. In general it considers that a baby between 4 and 6 months is ready to feed on different milk things in general one can realize this when the baby starts to sit, when you start to look for objects and put into your mouth and especially when it starts to show much interest in the food they eat their parents.

Frequency and amount of solid food in your baby's diet

When you start solid foods is generally recommended to start with 1 or 2 meals a day, it is also advisable to use the same food from two to five days to allow the baby to get used to its taste and see what signals acceptance to food gives. Among the adverse effects of starting with a solid diet it can happen that, as time passes, the baby can go asking for more and more food, before this can increase the amount or frequency of meals, usually it depends on the needs of each baby.
