Alzheimer's is a disease that currently has no cure to slow the loss of cells throughout the body that have specific functions such as memory and cardiovascular, brain, etc.

Study that was carried out

Scientists from the Weill Institute of Neurosciences of the University of California in the United States carried out a study where they managed to identify the cells that are infected with Alzheimer's, the discovery may help create a treatment, thanks to the identification of the first neurons that are dying.

It was detected which cells are most likely to produce a protein called "tau", which causes cell death in the Brain, which spread throughout the body progressively, triggering as first symptoms: memory loss and dementia.

They also discovered cells that have a high concentration of the protein "tau" but did not die, which makes scientists question which cells actually have Alzheimer's and how it progresses in the patient.

The study was carried out with brain tissue from people who died from Alzheimer's, thanks to the single-core RNA sequencing technique, and it was possible to find the areas most affected by the disease, in addition to identifying the neurons that began to disappear at the beginning Of the same.

In addition, they found a protein called RORB in brain cells that died from Alzheimer's and are the ones that can attack neurons early and accumulate “tau” proteins.

Scientists will continue to identify their cellular and molecular structures to begin working with treatments that are capable of delaying the death of brain cells and eliminating them to eradicate the disease.

Signs of Alzheimer's

- Attention and orientation problems

- Changes in mood

- Personality changes

- Memory loss

- Loss of energy

- Inability to solve simple arithmetic operations

- Difficulty communicating

- Impaired ability to move or walk
