Calorimetry is a study in which, through breathing can identify how many calories we consume.

NC. Bethlehem Otero Lamas

The purpose of calorimetry is to know how many calories we consume at rest and as metabolize nutrients. This test is a solution for those who have spent months trying to regulate their weight.

This test is usually done in cases of obesity, overweight and morbid obesity, however, anyone can conduct the study. It is important to note that this process should be done on an empty stomach and at rest, and lasts about 15 minutes. The patient will only have to lie down and stay calm, but the day before the person should follow a light diet and not eat from the night, and avoid alcohol and exercise.

The results are obtained immediately after the end of the study, and these allow us to calculate the daily energy needs in order to start a dietary treatment, depending on the results of each person.

In conducting this study we will know the actual expenditure patient at rest and thus it is possible to calculate a proper diet for positive results.
