Bad dream related to a low mood

Various sources have said that lack of sleep negatively influences mood, some studies linked it to Anger, Anger and Depression.


An analysis performed

Researchers from Michigan Medicine studied around 2,000 Physicians who were beginning their Internship, were monitoring their sleep and some other activities that they performed through portable devices that they wore on their wrist. The participants had to report on their daily mood through the application of a cell phone. During this period, they applied quarterly tests to detect signs of Depression and thus know if the quality of sleep was related.


The participants, due to their internship, had long working hours so their hours were irregular, which made it difficult to sleep quality and maintain their bedtime. The results they found were:

- Those who slept later, less time or varied their sleep hours a lot, were more likely to report a bad mood

- Those who fell asleep later or less hours showed high scores in Depression symptoms

- Those who varied their waking time from day to day could be in as bad a mood as those who stayed up very late the night before, or woke up too early


How to have good sleep hygiene?

1- Go to bed at the same time every day


2- Sleep the hours that correspond according to your age

     -Newborns: 16-18 hours

     - Preschool children: 11-12

     - School-age children: hours

     - Teens: 9-10

     - Adults (including older adults): 7-8 hours


3- Avoid eating, consuming coffee, energy drinks and exercising for at least two hours before going to bed


4- Do not take naps after 3:00 p.m.


5- Keep the room at a cool temperature


6- Do not use digital devices when you go to bed
