Gout is an inflammatory disease caused by deposition of uric acid crystals in the joints. Sometimes these crystals are deposited in the kidneys, causing renal colic or alterations in their function. The main cause of gout is hyperuricemia, ie, have high levels of uric acid in the blood. Other risk factors include obesity, high blood pressure, intake of certain foods and alcohol abuse.
