The surgery to correct inverted nipples, also known as flat nipples or nipples umbilicated is responsible for placing them in the natural position, overhung forward rather than withdrawn. There are different degrees of severity of this malformation: it may be that the nipple is reversed only occasionally, or actually be inserted inside the breast because the muscle filaments in charge of keeping it in its proper position not exist or are too short . The surgical correction process, for mild cases, involves making an incision around the base of umbilicado nipple projecting outwardly and away from the muscle filaments. In severe cases of this anomaly it will require inevitably removing the breast ducts that allow the passage of milk in times of breastfeeding, so the patient should take this into account when deciding if practiced this intervention.
