Valvuloplasty involves opening a stenotic heart valve hardened through a balloon catheter. To carry out a very small catheter is introduced from a blood vessel in the groin or the aorta to the heart. Once the expert in cardiology the catheter is inserted into the valve to be opened a balloon / balloon is at the end of the catheter until the cusps (flaps) of the valve opening is inflated. Once it has managed to open the valve, the balloon is deflated and the catheter is removed. Valvuloplasty is done to open hardened as a result of heart disease or heart valves aging. The results are considered satisfactory by reducing failure.
